Zukie is a highly experienced executive with a proven track record as CEO and CFO. She has grown, transformed and turned around business in the public and private sector. Her drives. During her diverse 17 years of professional experience, she has held various leadership and management roles across various sectors including manufacturing, banking, insurance, private equity, oil and gas, mining and telecoms.
Zukie currently serves as a lead independent non-executive director, and serves on various board committees in the public and private sector including Wescoal Mining, Bidvest Group, Afrucab Bank, York Timbrrs, Toyota Financial Services, Ogilvy Mathers South Africa. She iss also in the Takeover Regulations Pael, Nelson Mandela Childrens Hospital and Show it Now NGO.
As the CEO of Thebe Capital, Zukie played a critical role in managing a large diverse portfolio of investments across various sectors and actively growing this portfolio through new acquisitions. Prior to joining the Thebe Group, Zukie held various senior positions at the Barclays Africa Group, Old Mutual Retail Mass, Royal Bafokeng Holdings and South African Breweries.
Prior directorships include Growthpoint Properties, Denel SOC, Shell South Africa, Vodacom South Africa, Altech Netstar, Combined Motot Holdings, Safripol Chemicals, as well as Professional bodies ie ABSIP and AWCA.

Kunyalala is a commercial attorney turned entrepreneur and businesswoman, and a social activist who currently serves as the President of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa, the largest association of professional and businesswomen in South Africa. She serves on the Board of PPC Limited, a cement company listed on the Johannesburg Stock exchange. She also serves on the Governing Council (Board) for the University of Capetown (UCT), amongst others.
Kunyalala is an attorney by profession and previously specialised in Mergers and Acquisitions, Competition Law in practice and general commercial law. She holds a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Cape Town (UCT). She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), in Public Policy and Industrial Relations also from UCT. She is co-founder and Principal Partner for Brighton Wealth Subsaharan, a South African based investment and advisory firm with a diversified investment portfolio. She has business interests in Zimbabwe and increasingly setting up base in Harare.
She has done transaction work in several African countries outside South Africa including Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Cote D’Ivoire, Kenya,
Zambia and Zimbabwe and has travelled extensively across the continent. She has also travelled extensively globally as part of her social activist portfolio particularly as President of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa. She has used her commercial and business experience to help build capacity and sustainability for NGOs and non-profit organizations she works with.
She has previously served in various senior executive positions including serving with Ernst & Young South Africa as Head of Emerging Markets in the firm’s Accounts and Markets Unit and later Corporate Finance Unit where she was Head of Emerging Markets, including the Africa sub area. She has also served on the Board of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) the apex business representative organization in South Africa representing business associations and business chambers locally and internationally. She has served as a member of the African Businesswomen’s Network Think Tank amongst others.
She has and continues to occasionally represent South African business at various national and international meetings, and forums including United Nations, SADC meetings and at regional African Union (AU) meetings in various African countries. Further, she occasionally writes and comments on business transformation and has presented papers at various national and international forums.
